Do You Believe In Aliens?
Most of us have probably heard of SETI, The Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence. Some of us have firm beliefs regarding whether we are alone or not in the Universe and SETI has been trying to determine the answer to this question once and for all.While SETI obviously has not found explicit evidence of intelligent life existing outside of our planet they have detected some interesting things in the several decades that they have been operating. One of the most notorious of these things is something called the “Wow! Signal.”
In 1977 a radio telescope at the Ohio State University called the Big Ear detected a signal that lasted for 72 seconds. The signal just happened to resemble the characteristics that alien signals were thought to have.
Unfortunately, despite numerous efforts, the Wow! Signal has yet to be heard again leaving us all to wonder what actually caused the signal in the first place. Was it aliens… or not?
