China prepares for the launch of their third manned spaceflight

The last few days of September will see the launch of China’s third manned spaceflight, Shenzhou 7.  As of now the crew of three has yet to be named to the mission.  China’s taikonauts will launch into Earth’s orbit where and one of them will have the honor of performing the first spacewalk for the country. 

China is planning to broadcast the historic spacewalk live for the world to see.

The first manned spaceflight by China was conducted in 2003 with the launch of Shenzhou 5. The result was a successful mission nearly a day in duration.  China is only the third country in the world to launch a human into space on their own merits.
